Is the only remote currently on the market that is capable of controlling both home theater and z wave the Harmony 890? Are all remotes that emit a RF signal capable of controlling z wave lighting? Thanks.

Thanks. I can't find anywhere that states that the 890 will control ZWave. And no, RF remotes do not control rf equipment, the rf is used to communicate to a base station that then sends out IR commands to the device. Everything I have seen about ZWave says it communicates via RF and I cannot find an adaptor of any kind to allow IR, your only hope would be to use a remote like RTI or a contriol system that uses rs232 and then use this ZWave device: [Link: automatedoutlet.com]

The Z-wave remotes emit IR as well as RF. Definitely the 890 Pro, and its offshoots (monster, etc) do both. Ditto for UEI's new Zwave remote. NOt too sure about Leviton's new line. [Link: ce-pro.com]

Are there remotes that will control any kind of automated lighting (x10, etc.) plus home theater equipment?

Many remotes will do what you want..Home Theater Master, Crestron, AMX, Marantz, Pronto, RTI, Nevo, etc. It is just a matter of determining what type of lighting and how that lighting can be controlled. Lighting such as Lutron, X10, Vantage, etc can all be controlled via IR or RS232.

I wouldn't recomend anything X10 related, look at Mikes post, any of the remotes he lists are much better options. And if you can up your budget a little you can get something really cool.
