What do you guy's think? I'd like to convince my boss to carry them, but I want some good reasons to, I mean in addition to the "Coolness" factor.

Distribution? Reps? On time Shippments? Problems?

no online distributing, no mail order. That has to be one of the main reasons to carry them in my opinion. When I bid a job with B&W I know that the bid can't be taken home and raked across the internet looking for that "killer" deal. That and they sound amazing.

What about the fact they that just sound great ! It is about the music isn't it?

They really are a top notch company to deal, and of course they expect you to make them your number one line in return. If you are not willing to commit and just want a name on your line card then it won't work out.

They are a great company. Our rep is on top of things, which helps. As far as making them your #1 line...as for us, it's kinda hard not to!!! We sell em like hot cakes. Shipping time is one of the fastest (ordered a whole CDM package on Friday, got here yesterday!!!) Another nice thing is they have a story. Every brand has one. Theirs is the fact that they were the first to use Kevlar, they are used in 60% of classical recording studios, name dropping: George Lucas, Alan Parsons, Gramaphono, Abey Road studios...

There our no.1 company here in the UK,
customers love them, service is amongst the best and pricing is never an issue.
Nautilus range has a certain desireability with the 600 series just good solid speakers.

I’m a huge fan of B&W speakers. Well engineered, terrific sounding. They are second to none with the breadth of product lines they offer!

I don't want to start a war (although I think what I'm about to say might)

We carry Paradigm right now as our #1 line and have a hard time selling the other brands that we carry because of the "bang for the buck" factor.

How do they compare?

Someone earlier stated that they loved selling
B&W because it was "protected." Shouldn't one
be selling a product because it meets a client's
needs?

Yes, he loves selling them because they're "protected". That's a money-comes-first attitude. Meeting the clients' needs should be profitable by 'accident'.

What is wrong with making money? B&W is a more than solid product. Part of meeting the clients needs is making enough money to survive and be there to supply service. A protected line usually denotes a company that promotes a higher level of service which is what the High end product is about to a large extent. I don't think Snell or Paradigm are big discount items either. I think most customers expect a dealer to make money.

I didn't mean to imply that Paradigm was a discount product(I really do like them alot), just that B&W seems to start (price-wise) toward the upper end of the Paradigms.

Brent, thats the beauty of B&W. It starts at the bottom (300 OR SO / PAIR NICE LOOKING AMAZING FOR THE MONEY SOUNDING SPEAKERS AND GOES UP TO ARGUABLY THE BEST(?) there is. I am not currently a dealer but they are the best full line speaker available. I predict they will out sell the Paradigms.

B&W has an incredible management structure that has been spending a lot of time devoted to continuing a long legacy of preserving the brand’s prestige amongst luxury buyers & audiophiles.

The thing you left out was that B&W has an incredible engineering department. I think the reservations about the front baffles are about speakers from a lower price point than the Nautilus. M&K makes near field monitors that serve recording studios well but might not work too well as a full range speaker and there imaging in stereo is less than perfect. But my curiousity is aroused. Anthony, why do you hate a speaker brand so much? It's about the quality of the sound and the application. Surely you can't honestly say that the B&W's sound bad and are made poorly at their different price points. The Nautilus line raised the bar for the entire industry for both quality and innovative design when the 802 & 805 came out. I had a custom cabinet maker tell me it would take 8000 dollars to get him to make 2 of those cabinets on the 802 without the Darth Vader top piece. Did a Nautilous 801 fall on your foot or something. Lighten up

B&W great speakers??? Please, every one knows the only reason for their demand is their BIG appetizing campains. And at the end, that is why they are so expensive, the buyer end up paying for.

Any dout? Wander why those little Bose Cubes cost so much?

Real audiophiles reconice B&W speakers as the ssslllooowwweeesssttt in the market. Their bias warm could lead to boomy sounding systems. Levinson ultimatelly decided to create their speakers line (Revel) to aleviate that problem in their components and some of their dealers.

For those who are fool by apperance there is B&W. My clients, the can rest assure they will get the best sound for their money!

??? People are talking about advertising costs? I guess I am a little confused? When I open a stereo magazine (Stereophile, Stereophile HT, sound and vision, etc) Yes, I see B&W advertising, but I also see Paradigm, Snell, ... right next to them...??? SO are you saying that B&W's ad on page 11 costs 100 times more than Paradigms ad on page 20??? Slowest on the market??? Is it just me or did Paradigms semi-yellow drivers remind you of something? "Mommy, the Smiths have Kevlar, can I have kevlar, too?" Slowest...Name 5 companies that originally played with time allignment/phase coherency? Thiel, B&W..oh wait those are OLD companies..lets put our money in these new young guns that may not be here tomorrow...Sorry Hales and Dunlevy owners...to think of it the Hales sure did look like Theils...Let me stop

For me and the rest of our sales staff, we don't direct a customer to a specific speaker. We get an idea of their needs, show 'em what we have. THEY make the decision to buy the B&W speakers (or the other brands we sell)Just yesterday, I had a guy come in and was looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers...showed him a couple of Energys and a couple of B&W speakers...he chose the Energys for $200. We are not comission sales, so I wasn't going to pressure him to get the more expensive Energys or B&W...

Furthermore, he hadn't heard of either brand, and claimed to only want a product from us, because we have a reputation of selling better products than the warehouse stores....
