Any of you guys know what Error code 161-1 is? I have a client with a LC37GD6U that keeps throwin this one. Sharp tech support says it's Card issue and that Scientific Atlanta has a new card out that works error free now. Cable Tech that came out this am has not heard of it (what a surprise right?) Anybody in NY/NJ area seen or heard of this new card?

TIA

Joe

I hate cable cards, and don't even talk about them unless someone asks. I've seen cards that wouldnt work in 3 different manufactures sets, yet the cable company still laid blame on the tv's. Of course, 3 cards later and it works fine. And the cable guy is usually to busy stapling wire to a walnut ceiling to understand what the card issues are.

Is this a D6U, or a GD6U? Sharp may have an update if its the GD. If not, I would keep getting cards til you get a good one.
Gunga.....Gunga....GU-Lunga

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

That comment reminds me of when the cable guy came to install the cable card into my Sony. He plugs it in and everything looks fine on the menu so he phones the home office to send a hit, they say they'll do it and he hangs up. Then just as he hangs up he disconnects the cable from the outlet and proceeds to make a new cable. Its THE dummest thing I've seen in years, I don't know how he expected the signal to get to the TV when the cable isn't connected. It was SO stupid I didn't even say anything. He eventually got the cable card to work after a couple more phone calls.

What he said...and incase you did not catch it...cable cards do not work, or at least I have not have one function without follow up issues.
What part of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." do you not understand?

Cable card + Sharp TV = freakin' disaster.

In my own house I went through 11 cable cards on 2 different Sharp LCDs before they finally worked. Then, about 4 months later comblast upgraded their system somewhere and they didn't work again. So back out they came - 9 times before I told them to stop trying. FYI that these were both D6U units......
