We have a family own and ran audio/video sales, service and installation company here on Long Island. I have been working for as long as I can remember but am now looking to expand and get the proper training and certifications.

How is it that you (other Installers) got trained?? Also I’m looking to expand into x-10, home automation and looking for a school or seminars on that too...

Thanks for your time and help,
Lonny

Cedia is the way to go. There are classes that come to the Metro NY area a few times a year.

A friend of mine is encouraging me to join NSCA (National Systems Contractors Association?) because they have training, especially at their big convention (next one in March, I think.)

Does anyone belong to NSCA who can speculate on whether it or CEDIA is more worthwhile?

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Been in the A/V business for 34 years. Been a CEDIA member for over 11 years. CEDIA is the way to go. I don't even go to the CE shows anymore, just the CEDIA conferences. As far as trainging goes, there is nothing better than CEDIA.
