Has anyone successfully configured a Denon AVCA1SR with three independent zones?
I note it says that the extra zone one has variable pre-outs while the extra zone 2 has fixed pre-outs unless you use the EX channels which I presume are variable.
Does this mean if you add a suitable power amp you can have two additional zones each with independent volume and source selection(5.1 in main zone).

Could the system therefore be configured using say Xantech control panels in each zone with independent discrete commands.

Any experience / issues with this product greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've never seen that particular model.....but if I use my experience with avr-3802 there are two ways

1 if you use the amp in 5.1 there are two channel left that you can use as multi room (1 zone only)at fixed output; so you must use external volume controls

2 you can use denon on 7.1 and use multi room output as rca only to run an external amp with variable output(on rca only) but still 1 zone only

all of this you change in the menu option(speakers) 7.1 or multi room

Thanks Stephane, we use this receiver a lot in this configuration although you shouldn't need external volume controls when running the receiver in 5.1 as the two extra channels have discrete volume when used in multi-room mode.
Set the remote to multi and the volume then controls the extra zone volume.
