Isnt there a simple piece that will allow a doorbell "chime" to be used on a Russound or similar piece? It would also mute the audio at the same time. Viking makes some pieces that do this, but is overkill for what I need as I dont have any CCTV, door intetcoms, etc. Just looking for something that will mute the audio, and possibly pipe the doorbell through the CAV6 system.

No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall. www.customdigitalinc.com |

Absolutely there is. At least one distributor I know of carries a device by Viking that, when given contact closure, will spit out what ever tone you want. A door chime? Easy. A lion's roar? No problem.
Take the contact closure from the door, go to a Russound DIM, take the voltage out to mute, take the contact to the Viking, take the audio to the page input.
Works great.

I looked in the referenced "distributors" catalog, and all I found for Viking were ring amplifiers (PA2A, etc), Music on Hold interfaces (PI1) etc. Am I looking in the wrong place?
