Are the IR codes the same for the D10 and the D11? One person had mentioned teh pixel/blackout problem went away with the installation of the the D11. So before I travel to this guys house I want to know if I need to pack a overnight bag.

Yup, the same. Same factory remote and codes for all DTV now.

and may I add that both of these units, while adding nice features such as HDMI and 5 sat compatibility, are bloated pains in the asses with user controls that should simply not be there such as front panel resolution buttons.
