I have a Xantech 789-44 connecting block with all 4 output ports in use. On one of the outputs, the two wires from the plug are spliced to two wires in a length of CAT5 cable to run to a projector, where it is spliced at the other end to two wires that lead to a single Xantech emitter.

I need to add one more emitter to the system (for a total of 8), and I have purchased a Xantech 284 (dual) for that purpose. I would like to send one of the dual emitters on the 284 to the projector using the CAT5, and attach the other to a new component that is close to the connecting block. Is it possible to splice the projector emitter in AFTER the wires split into two (sending the signal over a single wire rather than the two)? Put another way, I know I can splice the double wires (that connect to the plug) and insert CAT5 to run it over a distance. Is there a way to splice the single wire (that attaches to the emitter head) and use the CAT5 to extend it, so that I can also use the other emitter in the 284 also?

If not, is there another way you can suggest?

yes you can extend the wires after they split apart.

Just to be clear, it is not a "single wire" after the split... It is still a two-conductor wire with a + and a - polarity. If you are going to extend it , then make sure to keep track of polarity.

agree with the above, but if you split too many times or have too long of a run you may need to switch to a high output connecting block instead of the 789-44.
