Hello all - we're doing an installation where a Macintosh Mini will serve as a source in the client's equip stack (which works great, BTW). My question: since DVI and HDMI are compatible, is it possible to run an HDMI cable to the display (50" plasma in this case, w/HDMI), and using a DVI - HDMI adapter, send the Mac Mini's output (it has DVI) to the display over HDMI?
I wouldn think this is possible, but given the gotcha's w/HDMI, I wanted to see if anyone else has done this.

Maybe/Maybe Not. Computer and CE DVI timing are just a little bit different. Tryit first. Also, you might need a repeater to support that distance as computer video cards are generaly not as robust as CE devices.

I've never done it myself, but I've seen it done. You'll have to deal with quite a bit of overscan, but it shouldn't be a problem for multimedia. Desktop usage might be a hastle. Mac's DVI is both digital and analog, so you also have the option of breaking out component video.

I have a couple of these myself. Why not just get the Apple S/Composite adaptor and make things easy. 30 bucks, and that will let you use your receiver to switch it, if need be.
