I haven't done much modulating over the past 4+ years or so due to the ever diminishing number of available channels available on both cable and matv systems.

We used channel plus+ w/their filters for a number of years. We just got tired of trying to find open channels etc. Besides, SDTV is a dead dog.

What have you used to send HDTV/480p/camera to all TV's that is bulletproof? I'm assuming using something as cool as Kaleidascape requires separate wiring to each TV. I would think using a Sony 400 disc changer what use the same technology.

Many thanks

I gave up on modulation a long time ago, the only way to provide a quality distributed signal is by using matrix switchers. It is a step up but companies like Key Digital and others are getting cheaper and cheaper everyday, I just put in an Autopatch Precis switcher that was a 4x8 HiDef Component and analog audio switcher, 3 HD satellite inputs and one progressive DVD input and fed it out to the 7 HD displays throughout the house for about the same amount of money that you would have spent on 4 quality stereo modulators, not to mention that I don't even know of any modulators that can handle this type of signal as most of them are composite video and mono audio. That is the other thing about modulators, even though they have a left and right audio in, most of them out there (unless you spend a couple hundred dollars) only modulate the audio as a mono signal.

Have been using a number of MuxLab baluns lately with very nice results. They usually only require 1-2 cat5 run to each location. We do a number of HiDef jacks that consist of a Mini RGB and 2 Cat5, but not all customers want to pony up the cost on those outlets. I too have shied away from modulation and have done more distribution amplifier style installations. Better control and better picture.
