That is the reason you should buy your products from respectable dealers, and buy respectable brands.

This is a very sorry story, but, you surely have learned a lesson here.
Try going to you friendly local installer or AV store and buy a quality replacement. It doesn't need to be totally high end. But a reputable name you recognise wouldn't hurt.
Is saving money more important than peice of mind?
Anyways, a replacement PSU may blow again in six weeks time, if you ever get it. Then what are you going to do?
I'm sorry for you but you wouldn't buy a Lada just because it was cheaper than the VW, would you?

You guys are being a little touh on the guy, Shop NBC is well known in industry circles as being a quality provider of quality name brand high end electronics. jsjohnnyd.. did they throw in an Esteban guiter/cd package with the deal? That alone would have made the purchase a worth while investment.

We had a Sharp LCD panel that blew a power supply. I believe it was a 12 VDC 3.0 amp power supply. Didn't want to spend $125-150 on a new Sharp power supply. We were able to replace it with a Targus laptop power supply. It comes with a variety of adapter connectors.
Hope this helps,
Dave T

Dave T Dave read the part of his post where...the power supply has multiple voltages and a 4 pin plug. He just needs to give it to the garbage man and buy a real one. So sad what a waste of money. I think I will print this one for my clients to read.

Try Sears repair they also carry the PROTRON product. This is a case of damn near deceptive product naming. Many have confused this product with the much more well know "Proton" (albet, not much in the way of new stuff). I have talked with Sean at Proton about this and it is a thorn in their side (someone call the lawyers). If Sears does not have this part you are most likly completly out of luck as "PROTRON" is only a marketing/importer company with no real tech support.

Then again, if you do actually have a warranty, a call to the Federal Trade Commission might do some good.
If you can get anyone on the phone anywhere, start mentioning the FTC. Mention wire fraud, and mail fraud, too, both federal crimes. If they said anything about the warranty on TV, they might be committing wire fraud by not responding. You have to make this sound like they have a BIG problem on their hands if they don't help you.
Did you mail in the card for the warranty? In California where I am, a receipt is all that is needed to enforce a warranty, but where are you?

HAHA hilarious.
You should have waited man. This week they have the Soyo 32 and 15 inch on sale for 1299, TOGETHER!!!!! And, they are claiming that SOYO is the worlds leading and oldest LCD producer. See, the old saying good things come to those who wait really rings true here.

SHOP.RBC/RBC is a local company, for me, and their service has always been good on the PC side of the business, because that's what they are a "PC clone company". However, if RBC did sell you the TV, did you try escalating the problem within RBC? Who did you talk to, any managers? Did they give you contact information for this AVION TV? If this didn't work, did you try to get the name of the local rep for that brand of TV and present the problem to the rep (unfortunately, this TV,may be sourced directly from China). Unfortunately, some dealers don't like to provide proper support for products that are not part of their core business. I just finished talking to a person about a Samsung TV, where the selling dealer will no longer help the customer. Apparently the problem is with that particular model of TV with a known defect (I'm not a Samsung dealer). The dealer, a furniture store, will no longer help the customer, reason unknown. In this case, the recommended course of action was for the client to contact Samsung rep for that furniture store account (national account) to address the problem. As mentioned above, in previous posts, a good A/V company would have solved the problem for you. Remember RBC is a PC clone company, in Canada, not a A/V company. I'm just surprised by their lack of support on this matter. Good luck
