Can you use a remote control to adjust the lighting in an HAI Lighting System without using their omni controller? Do you have to use a controller whenever you use any HAI UPB stuff? Do you have to use the UPB Phase Coupler? What if there is not room in the service panel to use two breakers for the Phase coupler? Just a few questions on the HAI stuff? We are looking into becoming a dealer.

Julie is right. Worthington (distributors) has an awesome forum on HAI. As for the phase coupler, it is recommended but we have found good success without it. As long as you can pass a signal, and have neutrals in the switch gangs, you are generally cool. No IR for the dimmers and they have not yet released a 1000 watt dimmer. It's good to be involved in the design stage of the house. Often, the sparky will pull the neutral to the load and a hot leg off that for the switch. This is no good. HAI is great stuff but don't buy it when their salespeople promise the moon. They will claim that there is no special wiring requirements to run UPB but, that is not grounded (I couldn't resist) in the real world.

I can't believe there is no IR integration. No way to make a wall mount TP or a Wireless TP to dim and turn lights on/off? That sounds like a huge limitations.

never occurred to me that HAI didn't support IR, but that would be a nice feature for the lighting control ... and especially now that they're compatible with Russound and Nuvo audio. HAI does have an RF option, so you could use the keychain remote to activate 4 scenes.

no...just use an omni pro 2 with the touch screen....

if you must control lighting via ir use an ir to rs232 peice and just put in the rs232 command to turn on and off.....

no limitations...only limitation i see is you experience level....

put in crestron for touch screens....... amx will work........

no disrespect to you vw but i think your above your skill level.... this could not be any easier.

I have my HAI system control my lighting VIA X-10, and then I have one of those plug in IR control modules for X-10 that I ran an IR Emitter from my Pronto's RF to IR converter to. That's how I control lighting by both HAI and by Pronto.

I have never touched and HAI product before, I have only seen manuals, and only very shortly. I am going to a training on their product at the end of the month. I can't belive you think this is ABOVE my skill level. Seriously, dude, I have been doing this for over 13 years now. I just am not familiar with their product. I understand RS232 I use the IRS232 mod from xantech all the time.

All I was really asking was DOES THE HAI STUFF INTEGRATE DIRECTLY WITH IR. I know I could use a RS232 mod, but i was just asking the questions. Sorry I didn't know the product....that is why I asked....
