Hey guys, quick question... Im doing a 3000 for our showroom's new theater with all the bells and whistles - Klipsch THX, Anthem D2, Kaleidescape Movie Player, Pioneer Elite DV-79, lighting, blah blah blah.. Inspirations for the room come from the Klipsch thx brochure and TK's dark red themes... On the panel specifically I was trying to do a radial fade - dark red to black - as the background... With the BG file saved as a 32 bit png file when download to the panel it appears as a target like object instead of a smooth fade.... Im wondering if any of you have tried this and found a workaround with a different file type or something like that...
Thanks, Mike

STOP!!!!! The 3000 handles picture and sound files about as well as Alan handles a Distributor.

You want full blown custom interface, go RTI or Nevo. The Nevo will even resize it for you. The 3000, as cool as it is, just can't handle the party. Lock ups, poor RF, insensitive touchscreens........either do a "stock" picture set (had problems with those also) or step away from the plate. Trust me.

Don't write an email. Call them in, show them the differences (and beauty of RTI) and let them know of the time savings and lack of callbacks they will get with the RTI. URC is close, but still not up to par with the RF or touchscreen yet.

Haaaaaang on a tic....I think you'll find the MX-3000, RTI T3, Pronto TSU 7000, Marantz RC 9500 and (I think) Nevo all have 16 bit (65k + transparency) colour displays. Hence with any of these remotes, a 32 bit colour gradient that appears smooth on a computer monitor will have stepping in the colours on the remote in the end. For this reason I avoid having gradients in my colour graphics that extend over a large part of the screen. Perhaps a half-tone patterned gradient or a smooth one over a shorter distance would be an elegant workaround?

The MX 3000 is just as capable, presentation wise, as a Nevo, Pronto or Marantz, perhaps moreso as it can handle animated gifs (I've not had any experience with the RTI T3 or T4).

However, it is true that I've had to talk customers through resetting the things when they freeze, I've struggled with the RF in the past and the general consensus on these forums seems to be that RTI RF is a breeze in comparison (plus the ability to send RS 232 commands sounds pretty good to me). So in the end I guess you are better off with RTI, but I just had to have my graphics-related nitpick. :)

Why bother with the mx3k? Once you finish installing the theater equipment, take a crap where the remote was going to go and save youself the programming time. It's like building a million dollar home only to install vinyl flooring throughout.
