With the abundance of displays that offer cable card tuners as well as off the air HD with optical outputs for audio, what is the best solution to run 30' to 40' in-wall?
I've used the optical to coax adapters(complete with 'another wall wart') converters and wonder if there is a better solution????

Well, one option is to run raw fiber in the wall and terminate it appropriately. The output should be good for at least 100' on a well terminated fiber line.
I know, I know, who the heck has in house fiber guys. We do, but we also do the occasional Ethernet to Fiber converters because of the distance between buildings on some of our client jobs.
