I am just learning ProntoEdit v.4 and have been having problems resizing a few of my own graphics for use in the ProntoPro. I'm sure this is just a case of "pilot error", but I need some help from a "pro". I have been able to import a few graphics that were created at full size (240 x 219). But after resizing the graphic with some photo imaging software I have, and resaving it as a .BMP file, I get an error "cannot import bitmap, not 1,4, or 8 bits per pixel". I assume that ProntoEdit cannot resize graphics on it's own? Maybe I am using the wrong software to manipulate these files? Is there a particular software program I should be using? Thanks for your help!!

what are you using? the 1,4,8 error means that you are saving it in too many colors. I know MS paint changes the color pallet when you copy/paste and stuff, in it you would need to do save as and then pick 256 colors

Thanks for the tip. I have been trying to use Photo Impression. It doesnt seem to give me the option of saving it in 256 colors. I did find that MS Paint does let you save in 256 colors, and I was able to resize the graphic successfully for ProntoEdit. Thanks for your help!! What other software is available that may have some additional editing features, like special effects, ect?

Photoshop is quite expensive, for less money Paint Shop Pro (online ~$75 after rebate) does a real good job.

I have photo shop on my computer for work and because I don't have alot of free time to play with it I have found that it is too complicated for me. I'm sure that it can do alot of stuff but I find that I go back to mspaint to do the simple things, things that would take me an hour on photoshop.

I don't use photo shop, but I find the same thing with Paint Shop Pro (takes too long to do simple things). I use a freeware program called Image Forge, it's better than paint and not at all complicated.

Thanks for all the advice! I dont have Photo Shop either, and I really dont have time to learn it. I'll look for Image Forge or Paint Shop Pro. I'm not looking for magic, but I am into "simple". It's just that MS Paint seems limited, at least as far as I can tell. Thanks again...the advice is much appreciated!!
