A local distributer actually carries Open House in retail blister packs. The kids are standing in line with them at the checkout, er, sales counter.

Obviously looking for something different. Does anyone have experience with Tyco/Amp Netconnect line (also sold thru Tyco/DSC)? Any comments on Tyco/Amp service/support and ability to actually get these products thru distribution?

I have a lot of experience with OnQ, which was a spinoff from Amp Netconnect many moons ago. The OnQ stuff is excellent, especially with their recent acquisition by Grey fox. All of this stuff can be had through distribution from A@% and A*$^.
Rarely do I have any problem with tech support issues.
Well rounded product line as well.

We also use the OnQ product and it's never let us down. The only drawback to OnQ is the all the elec. contractors using it as well. It makes it more difficult to differentiate from the hacks out there. Speaking of hacks, take a look at the high volt/low volt article in the new CE-Pro. They actually published a photo of a sparky running low volt and romex together. Very professional! This is a trade rag that's supposed to have all our best interests in mind. I'd hate to be one of this guys clients. I'm personally averse to hum bars. Call me crazy!

Thanks.
I kinda like the Grayfox stuff too, but there is an army of alarm installers (not that there's anything wrong with that...) using it around here. I need to differentiate ourselves from those guys. The current Amp line looks good but I'm concerned about their ability to supply it.

We use UStec. They have a new line called ceLan that is very well priced for small homes as well as the larger iLan and ProLan for custom jobs. They are dealer direct only.
