I'm interested in acquiring programming services for my Marantz RC5000i -OR- acquiring an alternative remote. Thought this would be a good question/opportunity for the pros - anyone interested in the work should let me know...

Although I received an RC5000i as a gift when it was first released, I've never used it. Contrary to prevaling opinion, I found it cumbersome to program and I have neither the time nor inclination to deal with it. I've been using my trusty RC2000 Mark 2.

I'm making some changes to my setup, including moving my gear into a closet separate from the viewing/listening area. I'm interested in alternatives for a high quality, but reasonably priced, remote setup. Current plan: setup a hard-wired connection for an IR blaster from the viewing are to the closet, and program the RC5000i to automate.

(1) How do I find and select a reliable programmer for the remote?

(2) What is it likely to cost to program the remote, including a few automation functions using macros? (see list of theater hardware in my profile if you're interested)

(3) Is there a better solution? I'm certainly not married to the RC5000i

All advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Mike, just wanted to know where you are located, I see in your post that you are from PA but I don't recognize the town. I am near Pittsburgh and if I'm close enough I could program your remote for you. Let me know how far outside of Pittsburgh you are.

Bethlehem is located in the Lehigh Valley, not far from Allentown, on the East side of Pa.

About 70 miles south/southeast of our town of Scranton.

JJP's correct. I'm close to the Jersey border.

VTS, I'm looking for a high quality job from an experienced professional. I've not yet found anyone in my area who seems to be up to the task.

Would it be feasible to do this "remotely?" (sorry, no pun intended!). For example: Maybe I could ship you the remotes I need programmed, we could exchange spec/design sheets and the ccf via email? I could refine the ccf with you using the emulator on my PC. When we're done, I send you the feee and you send back the remotes. Just an idea - I'm open to options.

Thanks for your consideration.

Mike
