We want to start making our own component video cable in the field.

It seems that everyone has a reel of wire and some type of connector.

We want to use a mini RGB wire, 5 strand, and install our own fittings. What are you guys using? Please use model numbers if possible.

On our single wire we have used Commscope 5565, our Canare crimper went south, that stuff is expensive. We are looking for solutions with this cable also.

Takes for the help.

Use the F con * FCON FSRCA1RGB Connector 26 Gauge Mini fitting for that cable. It's available from at least one supplier I know. It uses the Cable Pro compression tool to install.

I was using sheersounds mini coax ([Link: gepco.com]) with F-conn connectors (fsrca15rgb). Even though it states its for 22g its what sheersound recommends ([Link: sheersoundcable.com]). I just put in a order for a 6 conductor mini coax cable with 2 shielded 22-2 twisted pairs from Liberty wire and cable with their brand compression ends, its a three part end verses the 4 part from F-conn which is suppose to be easier to terminate. I will let you know how it turns out. There was also another thread on this not too long ago. Good luck

We have been using AudioQuest ITC cable and tool-less connectors since CEDIA and they are fantastic. Strip the cable and the connectors go on with no tool at all, RCA, BNC or F-conn. Cable comes in audio, video, component and RGB with cat5e. If you have a bad connector, you can cut it off, remove the connector and re-use it. No more wasted connectors!! We have a VERY low failure rate, I highly recommend them.

Good Luck!

Thats pretty cool. Do you have to be an audioquest dealer or can you purchase them from a distrutor?

for the most post I will only use Belden cable for anything critical, such as mini RGB. The connectors are bit of a pain but at least I know it's a real cable with published data sheets.

I do not know of any distributors. We are direct with Audioquest and they are very easy to work with.

Planet waves. This stuff rocks. Now crimp tools, comes with a tester and cutter. You can reuse the fittings (Which is nice if you mess up a connector). It takes about 20 seconds per fitting to put on. A real time saver. Once we get ride of our stock cables, we will be using planet waves for everything.

Been using Belden mini-RGB for about 2 years now. I use the house brand connectors at A**D, which have yet to give me a problem.

Just my $.02 worth

We just started with the Audioquset ITC as well and did a component cable in a matter of minutes, did a few digital audio cables and analog audio cables too.

The ends are push on and easy to use

we bought all of the top line wire
