This is an ok place to post that, depending on what you want the guy to do.

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

O.K. I just don't wanna get beat up!!!

The company I'm with is growing, and looking for a full meal deal kind of guy... Rough-Ins, Trims Programming...
Vantage Lighting Control, AMX, ELAN...
Actually, he probably wouldn't be required to do much of the Pre-Wire stuff, but should be good at Retros, and problem solving. The company supplies everything...Van Tools, Laptop... and will negotiate a fair $$$ deal.

We just lost a great tech last summer, and with overtime and all, he made over 6 figures. This year though that wouldn't happen as we are in a re-building phase, because when we lost that Tech - his apprentice left also... (to do their own thing... now they are out looking for jobs again)... But the owners know they aren't going to find a good guy for cheap... They are pretty new to the Low-Voltage side if things... they have a Very successful (other business)that contracts big projects for heavy construction and commercial type Fiber & Electrical stuff...
The owners are pretty open to someone who has been around, and has EXPERIENCE...

"are YOU experienced"??? Jimi Hendrix 1968???

Yeah, he did... He had a pretty fat base salary... Now I'm NOT saying that would still be the case... as he kind of scrooed the pooch...(he would quite often dissappear, no-one knew where he was, no phone contact) so his boss took him off salary, but still paid him a nice hourly rate... I know he really regrets leaving now, but he burned the bridge here...

Well, see now Stan, thats ok to be looking for a tech.....but when you just say your looking for a man,...well we don't want one of our own all clad in leather dancing on a table because he got duped in the internet. Trust me, thats not worth the 50k a year it paid.

There is a guy in the 'Nati who is paying his installers and system designers over 80k per year. Of course, they get the 1-2 million dollar jobs, but still. Amazing though, for they have only been around a few years.

Especially if you see just two guys, owner and installer, doing a 40+ zone homeworks system. Or lugging in 7 DSP8000's. If your making less a year than that speaker cost, you think your really going to give a sh*t about it?

I am printing this thread out and putting it on my bosses desk 1st thing tommorow morning.......

We install Runco, MacIntosh, Crestron, Triad, Lutron etc.... We are top 5 dealers in the country for most of those lines. Our avg job total is well into 6 figures and have done a more then a few 7 figure jobs. I am a lead tech with over 5 years experience and second in the company in terms of tech seniority.

My employer is a small company on the verge of breaking out in a huge way. We are constantly booked beyond solid almost 3 months at a time. We are doing our jobs on impossible deadlines with long hours and quite a bit of stress.

Given the cost of living in my area, I am considered part of the working poor. My salary is less then half of what he is offering. Home ownership is out of the question on my pay, heck, I can't even afford to buy a new (used) truck... The drywall guy I worked with on my last job made a couple hundred more a week then I do. If I had kids, I would be living in complete poverty.

I really like the company that I work for, love the people and love the job. Very few people get to say that. Getting to play with shiny, expensive toys all day is a great way to make a living. It goes a long way towards making up for the pay.

But when I see friends, family and guys in other trades buying homes, new cars and other niceties I do second guess myself quite a bit.

Given that the OPs company is used to the heavy commercial construction industry, they are used to paying out like that. Check out what a commercial sparky or an experienced heavy equipment operator makes a year. My brother just started in commercial construction and with 0 experience, he makes almost as much money as I do.
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.
