We use the large Stanley parts organizers:

Home Depot carries them for about $15 each. They're
the perfect size for carrying single gang plates
(take the yellow boxes out for larger ones), and
smaller bins for all your snap-in connectors.
The smaller version works great for cable terminators,
CAT-5 ends, Phoenix connectors, etc.

We do the same thing. A box for each color... black usually stays at the store, White, Almont, and Ivory stay in the van.

One of my installers took a Rubbermaid container
and put in plywood dividers. It keeps everything
organized, and has plenty of room.

Everytime I'm at a store that sells Rubbermaid type containers, I always look them over, and to date, I've never found a large tub with dividers.

I've got small parts storage covered, but when it comes to 3-12ft pre-made bulk cables, Y-Adaptors, Wall Warts, Emitters, Splitters, etc. they always have a way of turning into a tangled mess in a tub with no dividers.

For F Connectors and RJ45s, we use the Ziploc screw on containers. You can carry them in a tool bag, and if they get crushed the lid doesn't pop off and explode everywhere. They come in two sizes and I got them at Wally World for like $2.00 for a set.

I think the Rubbermaid thing was out of desperation. He usually does my central vacs, but I was having him do more and more trim outs. The other techs went to HD and bought a Husky bag that has a seat with a zipperd pouch underneath. They keep all the plates and jacks in there, and just carry a small tub w/ tools and connectors. They bought theirs, and I wouldn't buy one for him, so he improvised.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

These work great for all kinds of stuff, you can get them in any size and you can make the grids fit everything.

Those are exactly what we use to store all our tubes at the store. They work great. Never tried using them in the field...

Those look pretty cool! Are they expensive?
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

We use the Home depot Stanley things too. These are defiantly a step up from the old ones they had, witch if you didn’t notice they were latched poorly BAM all your stuff on the floor of the truck.
