I hope one of you guys in the field can tell me what HDsat receivers have discrete power and hd/sd commands. My co. has been using Hughes and without discrete power commands they are tough to manage with control systems. I know Sony has discretes but we have had supply and return problems with them.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, but unfortunately, they are out of production, and the new model still hasn't been made available yet.

JJ, what will be new about the new DTCs? I have the chance to pick up a brand new (old) one, is why I'm asking.

Does the unit both composite and component when in hd?

If this is in reference to the DTC-100 there is a discrete for this too.

I saw some satelite receivers this year at cedia that are supposed to output both HD and SD at the same time so you wouldn't need a toggle for it. As I remember there were two models, probably made by the same people. I think that Toshiba was one of them but I can't be sure.

the new HD receiver by Samsung outputs HD and SD simultaneously. It also has 4 video games built in and a Bio-rhythm indicator!!! (I'm not joking - it really does.) I don't know if if has any discrete power commands available.

The Mits HD 400 and the current Dish network Hughs HD receiver have a discrete HD on HD off toggle that is in the remote. The remote alternates the command it emits.

vts1134, you never know around here but:
On an install for a customer who aquired Dish Network service (we do Direct) I noticed his Hughes HD receiver was identical to the Mits HD400. The IR codes are different but the operation is the same. The HD toggle actually sends alternating discrete on and off codes out of the remote. My not exactly open minded lead installer did not believe so I had to prove it to him. I don't know much about Dish's product but but if it's the Hughes box it should work

The Hughes HD has discreet HD on and off. Pressing the action button then the input will give you one of the HD commands, the next time you press those buttons it will give you the other HD command. WIth a Pronto or other macro capable remote you can get an HD on and off command to work and I have even been able to learn them into a single button on Pioneer remotes by pressing the input button while the action command is still being learned by the remote. There is no discreet power for the Hughes but we just leave the sat receiver on all the time. RCA DTC100s have most disceet commands and are still available on Ebay.

Shoe.
That's because the Mits was built by Hughes and bytheway, The Hughes only works with DirecTV not Dish Network.
