Hi,

I'm not a custom installer - just an end customer.

I bought an SPLCD touch panel about a year ago (US spec, although I'm based in the UK) and have finally managed to spare time (from the screaming baby!) to set it up.

I've got the touchscreen working ok, but I'm not enitrly sure how to connect it to the connecting block. I have two blocks - one 789-44 (1 in 4 out) and a 791-40 (1 in 10 out). I have a 12V adapter for these.

The SPLCD is powered up using direct wires to the +16VDC and GND terminals.

But I'm not sure how to connect a cable between them.

Could some one tell me which of the :
- IR IN ZONE : GND
- IR IN ZONE : IR OUT
- IR BUS : GND
- IR BUS : STATUS
- IR BUS : IR BUS
.. from the SPLCD64G connects to which inputs on the 789-44 and/or 791-44

I have assigned IR codes to the GTL's and am sure that they work because they give that delayed pressed response. The IR emitters I have are twin Xantech blinkers.

But with the various configurations I have tried I've not had any success. The IR blinkers work when plugged into my Media Center PC, so I'm sure it's a connection issue. Although I've scoured through the Xantech website, there's no obvious diagram explaining hook ups from an SPLCD to these connecting blocks.

Could someone please guide me ?

Your help would really be appreciated! (And help justify it's worth to the wife!)

Many Thanks

These connections on the back of an SPLCD are NOT ment for solo connection to a connecting block. You should use a SPLCD connecting block wich connects to the screen via cat 5 and has emitter outs to you equipment. The connections you mention are for the i/r rec'r built into the screen. There is an "in zone" 2 pin weco connection on the back of the SPLCD that should work if you just connect emmiters (which are 2 wire) because it is an amplified output you can parralel mulitple emitters off that port and not go through a connceting block which is not amplified and hence a lower i/r level. I'm actually trying this on a screen in a couple of days and am wonder how well it will work.

IR Bus Wepco Jack.

GND to the GND jack on your 789 or 791

IR Out to the IR IN jack on your 789 or 791.

See page 16, figure 8 in the manual. Dont worry about power if your powering it locally.

I'd use the amplified (791) connecting block, especially if your distance between the SPLCD and the connecting block is a long one.

Make sure you power the conecting block with a 781RG power supply too.

Sorry church, your wrong on this, the IR bus jack is made for interface with a connecting block. I instaled a 791 one a fer weeks ago with this configuration, as well as 3 other IR receivers.

CHUCH, Sorry, 14 hour day.

If powering the SPLCD locally, The SPLCD CB isn't necessary. Either way, I think we answered darknight's Q.
