Being a satellite dealer, and having most of my
roots from satellite..... Their equpment has always been one step ahead of DTV |IMHO. Multi-room capabilities, multi-media options..............

I dont get it. when did I show concern of distribution, and what type of distribution |are you talking| about?

I could care less about the multi room capabilities or multi media options in a satellite receiver. You sited multi-room distribution as one of the benefits from Dish. I distribute video differently, using matrix switchers so distribution from a single master IRD to multiple locations over coax has no value to me. I very much understand why someone in the satellite installation business might see this as valuable. Even the multiple IR codes have no value as I deal with that in my control system. More often I hear tell that Dish's RF remotes cause as many problems as they solve. For an integrator they are a pain but for the satellite installer they are a godsend.

The crack about meters was supposed to be a joke. I do not install dishes, per se, yet I own 3 meters.

Hate to say it, but Charlie said at CES that some
of the new HD channels that they'll be adding
will be in HD-lite .

So I've heard, but "some" are better than "all".

My siting multi-room capabilities as a benefit was more for the consumers perspective than from an installers. It actually makes it MORE difficult for us at times to install. But from a consumers standpoint it saves them monthly mirroring fees on a multi-room system. This in turn, makes it an easy sell over DTV, esp combined with the fact that until a few months ago, Dish's promo's offered more up front on updated hardware.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.
