Anyone know how to get a still shot from a Windows Media Player file?
I have a recorded TV show in Windows Media Player that I need to pause, and then get "still" of that screen shot. m(To save to a jpeg, etc)
Is this possible?

You should be able to do the normal shift-print screen to copy the window to your clipboard and then paste it into MS Paint.

You'll need some software that will capture a screen overlay. I use a piece of shareware from Ashampoo that was (I think) about $15, although I'd imagine you could find some freeware that would work as well.

My GM ended up figuring it out.
In Windows MEdia Player, go to: Tools... Options... Performance... Advanced...
Then something about enabling or disabling "overlay". From there he was able to "save as"
He's gone right now, so Im just re-stating as much as I can remember for anyone else who may be interested.
Thanks

You can do the "Alt + Print Screen" method and then paste it into your favorite graphics program for clean up.
You need to temporarily set "Hardware acceleration" to minimum to capture the screen shot though.
Works everytime.

In Windows XP (Pro and Home) right-click on your desktop and choose properties, click on the Settings tab, click on Advanced, click on the Troubleshoot tab, and move the slider all the way to the left.

just press the print screen/SysRQ button by its self, then paste in your photo editing software
|
What you should choose does not end in the here and now, but how much you want to deal with it in the futre |

If it is un-copywrighted in WMP 9 or 10, you could try using CTRL+I to bring up the image capture screen and save it...disabling hardware acceleration also works.
