On my system, I have a Sanyo Z2 projector, Sony 995 receiver, Sony DVD 725P, a Sony VCR N51, a Dish network HD tuner(811 or 911 I believe), Sony playstation2, and a Magnavox TV. I have one set of lights on a X10 control.

Would anyone be interested in programming my Pronto TSU3000 for these devices. I would like to have some macros and to have the network icons available. I have had the remote for 2 years and have never figured out how to program it. The wife is currently undergoing radiation treatments and is on bed rest, I am sure she would appreciated being able to watch the system (it is too complicated for her to run as it is now).

I live in SE Iowa.

Please email any interest and/ or questions to [email protected]

Thanks,

Adrian

Would you be interested in writing the program and email it to me? I could test it and tell you what does/ does not work. However I am not sure if you are smart enough to program this. I mean you are in Arizona and you want ot fly to Iowa in the middle of the winter..... hum.....

Give it a little time and someone who does programming by mail/email will respond. I forget the business name, but he's a member and he's out there.

Did you also post this in the appropriate Pronto forum? He might lurk there more than here.

For myself, I have programmed many remotes and have never been able to imagine doing so without being in the room with the components. Often, timing and sequences have to be worked out. Sure, I could write you a program that would be guaranteed to work, but it might take ten seconds to change sources; if I were in the room with the sources, I can usually trim this down to two or three seconds by being there and trying several different approaches. If I had to email you a program, then depend on your (sorry) non-technical reporting of what happened, it would be many many revisions before we got it right, if we ever did.

But there is a guy out there who says he can do this...so sit back and wait for his response.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I've been doing that for years and its really not that difficult...esp with mostly Sony gear as its so easy to work with. I'll send you an email in a moment with some details.

Cheers

Yes. Those are answers from people who don't really care if it's a good job. There are too many things to consider before you can program a custom remote for the tastes of an individual. You have to interview a customer about how you watch and listen to a system before you can even start to design a remote for them. Someone who thinks they can program it without being there just doesn't care what kind of job they do.

Yes.

Yes what? Yes to the last comment?

care if it's a good job.

WHOA there! Those answers could be from such a person, but they could also be from someone who has figured out an approach that will work and basically tells the customer what the customer will get instead of working it out creatively together.

I said I didn't see how it could be done, but I am a stickler for doing things thoroughly and with the shortest macros. An activity-based remote could easily be done by email. I just happen to really dislike that approach.

Someone who thinks they can program
it without being there just doesn't care what
kind of job they do.

I don't agree. They have to care to do it at all, and they either recognize the subtle shortcomings of doing it this way, or they are total idiots. I don't think the idiots will be very successful at doing this!

Adrian,

It is not how I would normally do it, but given your circumstances I would be happy to help! Please send me an email if you haven't found anyone yet and I will work out the details with you!

Scott

Greg do you really believe that unless you are charging someone a bunch and making them bend to your will that you are unable to do a good job? I contend if you couldn't do it this way also to help someone in need then you couldn't do a good job regardless!

Greg that's insulting and just plain wrong. Obviously its easier being onsite but honestly so long as you talk with the client about their needs its really not that difficult...and if the work I've been doing over the years was so bad I doubt I'd get all the referals to friends and family so please stop making assumptions about the work we do.
