What has everyone been doing for their companies brochures and web sites?.. I want to do it legit (I can say that I may be guilty of cutting and pasting off of websites) but it is difficult to find photos for home theater and av on the net. Even going to the big royalty stock photo sites don't have decent av stuff. I have pictures of my own work but would like some other stuff to throw in as well.

Most manufacturers will have photos you can download for lit. and web use. Get ahold of any reps you have, they would be able to help you out.

We're putting together some tools for custom installers, and as part of that we're publishing much of our A/V product database online. The information is presented with permission from the manufacturers for use in proposals, etc. It's very early days, but there's a beta-level preview at: http://search.homeconductor.comRight now we have a very limited number of devices (just a few hundred), but we expect to be ramping that up rapidly. The search service is free, there's no obligation, etc. We'd appreciate any feedback, either about ease of use, features, or additional manufacturers you'd like to see. Thanks!

Yeah, I've used images off of manufacturers websites before for systems and equipment, but it is still hard to find good background home scene type images.

Ahem, I just checked out the site. At the top of the page, be vague with your search. I typed in theater, and pics/info came up. Bobby...

http://acousticinnovations.com/ has some pretty good stuff as well. Out rep gave us a whole bunch of images to use. We put them on a slide show on the LCD for the P.O.S. computer sometimes in the lobby.

Call it "early beta". We weren't officially supposed to let anyone know for a day or two as we finished testing, but I got overenthusiastic and jumped the gun. As an aside, we had similiar problems finding graphics for the home page of the homeconductor.com site. We ended up paying for stock photos. I'll check to see if any of the manufacturers would be interested in sharing their "products in use" photos in addition to the "product on a white background" stuff. No guarantees, but if any of them ok it, we'll post those as well. Thanks again, -cks

Am I missing something? I didn't find any information on anything other than what you're planning on doing. The DNS change that redirects the "search" site probably hasn't propagated to you yet, so you're seeing the corporate home page instead. It should fix itself in 8-24 hours as the DNS servers update themselves. See below on "should have waited another 24 hours before posting the url". Thanks for you patience and feedback, -cks

There is a company that specialized in making sites and brochures for custom installation and AV business, I am not sure if that is what you are looking for but they have already paid for the royalty for pictures and they can use them in your design. their web site is : http://www.macmrkt.com

But DAMN are they salty! $1500 for 500 tri-fold brochures. I paid $150 at Vistaprint.com. Granted, we designed our own and created the Photoshop file, but still.

Personally i like to our own work displayed on our website. While there are a couple of manufacturer photos, the vast majority are our own working systems. Much better to be able to display your own work instead of sexy looking systems without a wire hooked up from manufacturer brochures. If anyone is interested, have a look at www.cableman.com.au and have a look at the "gallery" and "in the media" sections. Simon.
