Panasonic have there 103" plasma on display at the 2006 International CES in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8.
1080p resoloution it delivers more than two million pixels (1,920 x 1,080) of performance.

But what does it look like in the flesh?

People were warming their Jack and coffees from about from about 10 feet in front of the thing, and a few of the Casio girls were waiting in line for a tan.

I can see it now......

Samsung: "We had ours out first!"

Panasonic: "Oh, yeah! Well ours is bigger!"

Then the fist fight starts....God, I can't wait.

Seriously, what installer would want to hang one of those? They can't be all that light. Especially when the designer wants it hung above the fireplace:)

That would be funny to see a bunch of snot-nosed, 5 foot tall Korean engineers going at it. Pocket protectors and velcro shoes flying everywhere. I'll have a few beers and watch that.

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

You can watch it in daylight. But the hell if I would trust a wall to hold it!

Not to mention the $50-80k price tag or whatever it is. I'll stick to FP, and now with the Screen Innovations Facade (Mirage) screen you can watch them in daylight anyway.

Does the size even matter if it looks as bad as the regular Pannys?

2nd that. That Mirage from SI is amazing. You can save the customer money and give him a bigger pic w/o breaking you back or getting a hernia.
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

I have a customer that is richer than that Gates guy (or thinks he is) and he asked me to look into a plasma in his indoor pool house that is bigger than the 92" front projection screen already there.

I was shocked and stuttered and before I could regain my brain...he said find one! I want one and I don't care what it cost!

Panny is not something I usually suggest...but at 103" I might have to take a look.

Where there is a customers need... there is a way

Honestly, how realistic is this thing? Outside of having to have the house reinforced, just think about getting this thing into the house. Think about getting it to the site. Think about the Ford F-150 chassis that theyre calling a mount. Commercil applications, sure. What they should do is frame the thing in, and sell it as a premanufactured load bearing wall. And just out of spite, they should make the remote proportional. Make it about 17lbs and put a 20" LCD in it.

Doesnt Fuj or Sammy have an 80 coming out? Thats a little more realistic.

Don't worry about the size...................it comes in 4 sections that you put together at the job-site. I don't think the seamline will be noticeable watching sdtv and video tapes......................

These mega displays are simply trade show attention whores. They've done it for the past 3 or 4 years. Honestly....Who expects to see a single peice PDP actually designed for widespread use? The logistics are just not there, regardless of cost. As long as the next "biggest" gathers booth attention at trade shows, manufacturers will keep competing like this.

Zenith/LG have has shown a 70+" plasma at the shows for over 5 years....
I still don't think one has shipped, but I may be wrong on that.
