I have had a few video issues with the pioneer elite VSX-72TXV reciever and it'd HDMI switching. The most recent problem comes when I connect a comcast HD DVR cable box to hdmi input of the reciever. It won't pass the video signal to the plasma. If I hook the cable box up through component cables the 72 outputs fine through it's HDMI cable to the plasma which is an elite 1130hd (I think). If I hook up the cable box hdmi directly to the plasmas media box the picture appears. I just have not been able to get the hdmi from the cable box to pass through the recievers hdmi. I am using an elite dvd player with hdmi and it works fine. Another problem I had about a month or so ago was with the same reciever and a Sharp lcd some new 32". It would not sync at all I could hook up any source directly to the tv fine but as soon as I used the hdmi out of the reciever no go. Is pioneer doing something weird that allows their products to work well together and cause problems with other peoples equiptment. Any insight would be great. jc

The more likely problem is the cable box's HDMI output not properly supporting HDCP repeater devices. Not anything you or Pioneer can do about it. Complain the the cable op if you want. The better solution for you is to use component video. It always works and when used properly will give and equal picture.

This is the another fine mess the cable componies have gotten me in to. Getting sick of having to find workarounds for their product. jc

...@ least you are getting a picture from your box - I have try at least a half dozen Motorola DH5200 and 6200 in the south Florida area and have never been able to get it to work...! (properly)
...even had a custmer that got testttiii with customer service - their reply was that "the boxes' firmware was not set to output HDMI - Only Component!"
Consider using component and receivers capable of 100 Mhz / component switching in my opinion is a better picture ... in most cases DVI or HDMI bypasses the video processor of the device and jump directly into the adress bus - It is in the video card of the device where the manufacture compensates for gamma issues with the plasma glass/ LCD panel etc. bypassing this process will normally get you a picture that is tilted to ether the RED or the BLUE.
Good luck,
