Doing a job with 8 zones of D/A, and maybe 4 TV locations. (Wired for TV in all zones, but only 4 will actually be used) TV's are nothing fancy, and of the 4 TV locations, only 2 of them are D/A zones. Because of this, my original thoughts of using a CAV6 for audio/video distribution may change. (No way to get audio with the CAV6 in the 2 rooms w no D/A) So, I may just use a CAM6, and modulate the video sources to the TV locations. (Will only be using 2 satellite recievers for whole house)

Ive used the Channel Plus s video modulators before. (primarily becasue stereo was wanted for possible future expansion) However, is there really a benefit to using the S-video type modulators (SVM-24, etc) [Link: channelplus.com] , when its all going over an RF signal anyway? Is the PQ better by using S-video pieces rather than a regular composite type modulator?
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

The SVM is a stereo modulator, so you will be able to send stereo. I don't know anything about the picture quality. I do have a couple of the SVM's in stock from an old project if you're looking for a deal....

Yes, thats why I used the SVM before, for stereo. I just wondered if it was justified in using the S-video type, verses a composite type, if stereo wasnt needed, as its all going over RF anyway. I mean isnt that like hooking up a DVD player to a TV via a channel 3 modulator? :)

Somewhat related, does anyone still USE the video distribution of the CAV6, or do you use some sort of external modulation, especially to support HD signals?

Dunno about the CHannel Plus ones, but the T2 S-Video modulators look significantly better than their composite couterparts. (And we usually use B/T or Channel Vision Composite Modulators.... Good stuff...)

Think about it. If your modulating a Much better input signal. Your going to get better output.

Whats T2?

As far as PQ, I revert back to the analogy of hooking up a DVD player to a TV using a ch 3 modulator. Kind of defeats the purpose doesnt it, as its taking a good signal (s-video in this case) and down converting it to an RF channel 3 feed? I am just thinking out loud.
