when 1000:1 CR came it was break through them came 2k 3k and now I am seeing some displays with 10k and 15k :)

Sharp made 1.000.000:1 CR for their new 37" LCD with 1920 x 1080 .

But seriously, back in October when the new line of Sharp LCD's came out the specs on the web listed "Dynamic contrast" as 4000 to 1 but the owners manuals only gave the sets an 800 to 1 ratio.

Are we getting into a contrast rating war similar to the amplifier power ratings in the 70s? Sony receivers were rated at 40 watts RMS and 360 watts "peak music power", I think they acually were about 5 watts.

Remember the old line "Are those real watts or are they Sony watts"?
