Spent some time looking around and all I found were devices that could convert componant over cat5, but thats it, no audio.

I have a single rg6 and a single cat5 run to a lcd. I need to get a HD cable box on that tv remotely.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

JOE

However, you're going to have to "mono" the audio signal.

These will do component video and Digital audio. Can the TV handle the digital audio? These units also come as a hub that can go to 3 TVs. I have a few in stock if needed.

The basic problem is that component requires three pairs and analog audio two pairs. CAT5 is four pairs. You can run this over CAT5, but not over ONE CAT5.

And, because a device to do component and analog audio conversion to CAT5 would require two CAT5s, and only use five out of the eight pairs, and probably not be a hot seller, you will have to use a component balun and an analog audio balun.

Assuming, of course, you have two CAT5s in the first place.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

if the run is short enough....

just frikikin common ground all the video and audio lines. that way you have 3 wires for video (RGB) and 2 for audio and one for ground. That gives you 6 lines. and you can also ground the audio and video seperatly.

This is a total KLUDGE way of doing things but the science will back me up.

It also will look and sound like @$$ but that's what it is.

You basically have 10 conductors, the cat5 & the coax, so what's the problem. It would be cheesy but as long as the run is not too long it seems like it would work. No shielding but you might be ok. Might.
Life is short, enjoy yourself!

Try muxlab or any balun company... that will work for u. Run component and digital audio on one cat 5. I have had good luck with it.

The Component Video/Digital Audio Balun (500050) allows one component video (YPbPr or RGB) signal and one Digital Audio signal to be transmitted via cost-effective unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable in a point-to-point configuration. Used in pairs, the Component-Digital Balun supports 480i/p, 720p and 1080i/p video formats for hi-definition (HDTV) video applications.

Features & Benefits
Supports 480i/p, 720p, 1080i/p
Supports 480i/p up to 1,000 ft (305m) via Cat5
Supports 720p/1080i/p up to 500 ft (152m) via Cat 5
Moulded color-coded RCA cable leads
Supports digital audio on fourth twisted pair
Modular shielded RJ45 connector

Try the C5B from Keene-electronics.co.uk. I have used it before with varying success fro component and stereo audio with just 1 cat5e. Also allows IR control if required. It uses scart connectors (dont be fooled, it needs component) but they also sell the adaptor cables required.

Good luck!
Sticking to what I'm good at.
