Clients' system:

Denon AVR3805, DVD2910 and Sharp XV2000U projector, Paradigm speakers. Video signals are switched via component video thru the 3805.

As client is watching a dvd, picture goes blank for a split second, the projectors input flashes on the screen and the image comes back. He stated it happened 8 times while watching the 1st Lord of the Rings.

Actually my business partner has experienced the same issue, he contacted Sharp, filed the case # and all the BS associated with it and they had no clue. BTW he is also using the XVZ2000 and Denon electronics.

Some sort of sync problem?...........Dirty disc, DVD player skips then retracks?

Anyone else seen this?

had similar problem with a Denon receiver . If I remember correctly there is a setting in the menu for what type of video input you have. Do you hear the relays clicking when the video drops ?

are you talking about the video set-up mode, where you tell the receiver what signal is coming in?...i.e composite, s, component ?

2nd rick...........I don't think its that, becasue we have experienced it on 2 different projectors, what are the odds of that one? I appreciate your advice. Any other suggestions?

Try to temporarally by pass the video feed through the 3805. Hookup the 2910 directly to the component input of the projector and switch the audio through the Dennon receiver. Is there still a problem? If so, the 2910 is suspect. I have seen a few DOA's here. Also, the projector could be suspect. . . Try a different video source through the same component input. If that solves the problem, then that points to issues with the 3805 or as mentioned by 2nd rick, bad cable. The 2910 has a 720/1080 scaled HDMI output. Any reason not to use this? I do know that the 3805 does not have HDMI switching, but the 3806 does. Still, with HDMI, why not do the video switching on the projector level?

Absolutely, NO projector should ever be left to make a decision on its own. If at all possible TELL IT what the signal is, don't let it decide, it could make a bad decision temporarily.
