Hi,
I can get 80 watt, 100 watt, 150 watt power amps for other zones but sometimes a little 25 or 30 watt slim puppy would be handy.
Currently I need a small amp to run external TV speakers from the variable line out on the TV.
I can't find a TV (27") with speaker level out.
Another wish is that the little amp would cost about $100 - the cost of 80 watts is less than $200 to me so it doesn't make sense to pay that much for a little one.
Appreciate your input.

Stewart Audio makes a model called PA-50B, 25x2 into 8. It costs about 195.00 but it's a quality unit.

Tascam makes a 20x2 into 8 also it's called PA-20MKII

RDL also make a very small amplifier called the RU-PA518 it's only 9 watts stereo into 4, or 18 bridged mono.

Parasound also makes a ZAMP, it's a great unit but I think rather expensive. 30x2

Audiosource showed a new amp at CEDIA called the amp 100. It will have a a suggested retail of about $200. Initial delivery is scheduled for January; don't sue me if its later then that. Featuring 50 watts per channel, it will have seperate gain pots for each channel. It will be just under 17" wide. Cost will be refreshing.
Russound offers a fabulous device, simaler in concept to the Sonance ASAP and the Niles TVA20, called the DPA1.2. This rollover mechanism is designed to work with video situations like you describe, but with a difference. Wired with house music speaker wiring through it, the amp does not activate until the tv set turns on; then, the variable audio out on the tv controls the gain through the amp. It triggers off signal or video or voltage.

OK, good options there. I found the ASAP-1 to be the most affordable, but scrounged all the catalogs I could find under my desk and also found an Audioplex AMP10. Only 10 watts per channel, but that will be fine for two smaller in-ceiling speakers powering TV sound only. It lists for $220 but cost is low - about what I'd like to pay.
Thanks for all the great ideas - I know I will use some of them in the future!

If you don't need exceptional fidelity, check out Radio Shack's little stereo amp, $60, specs here, or , for even less (sound quality?), how about a pair of these?

Larry,
ROFL
What a dilemma: the TVs built-ins or a pair of those!!!
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
