Why not just leave the amp on since it's not Class A and probably draws little power in standby?

I dunno. Mr. Frugal or something. It bothers me. There are people in Africa who would kill to have those milliwatts, you know? That whole thing.

For obvious reasons, I'd approach the line with guarded optomism

Do you also unplug all your electronics with stand-by circuitry always on?

I worked for Bob Carver back when he had Phase Linear... (Befor he started Carver)... Pioneer bought Phase Linear, and totally trashed it...
Bob lost that Phase Linear in a divorce also... His ex sold it to Pioneer... Then he started CARVER to compete against the old company!!!
The new Sunfire subs look good--- I wouldn't expect anything less. As an earlier post mentioned, he just sold the Company... He'll be a part-time consultant. great guy, true genious... At Phase Linear, he would sometimes be working on a new product or whatever, and I would leave the shop, and come back in the morning, he'd still be there... and would sometimes work 3 or 4 days in a row like that non-stop & without stimulants!!! A true mad scientist.

I haven't done much with Sunfire... but everyone that I know that has seem pretty happy with Sunfire. I've worked on a few systems that use the Theater Grand... and they seem pretty nice.

Sorry to see it got bought-up... That's usually when companies "Jump the Shark"!

We've been dealers for a while, and we've had great luck with the subs, and not too much luck with the electronics. The feature set was always one generation behind the other (read Japanese) guys... The price was always high... It was hard to talk people into - especially considering the other lines we carry.

Great subs, though.

I just noticed an advertisement for a company called, "Woofers by Bob". Did I miss something, or did Mr. Carver start another start-up?

And I just noticed that I never posted an opinion, so here goes:

I have a Stereo and a Cinema Grand in my HT system, and I love them. Great power, zero heat, and they thrive on low-impednce loads, like my Def Tech's are.

Gotta love 'em!
