Did an install some time back and a CAT5 was not run from the V/C to the TV location. I do have a CAT5 run from back of TV structured wiring can where the headend is. Is there any way to tie in a settop IR repeater back at the headend without tying it into the keypad but rather before the keypad at the CAV 6.6?

i believe you can tap into the keypad bus at the cav 6

Brown = 12v+
green= ground
Or/wh= signal

I have not personally tried this but it should work

My understanding is that you cannot do this.

And that info comes from Russound...

Nuts,

I had a Russound system that I was attempting some around the corner magic with about a year ago. Called Russound engineer that I'm friends with to see if it would work.

He was pretty specific about it not being a possibility.....Actually he told that I should know better....lol

Sorry....Time to find a way to pull a new wire..

Am I missing something? Are you trying to ir control the russound system, or the sources connected to the russound system? Not clear, and so the following might help, or never mind...

If you are trying to control the russound system, then, yep, run another wire. If the sources, set up an independent ir system, use the fancy xantech 282tp emitters, with one output in the cav and the second in the independent ir system, and you've won.

You can use the russound sa zx3 keypad splitter, put another keypad at the head end and tap that keypad ir input. Expensive solution but it will work.

Fred,
I am trying to run both the russound and the sources connected to it, so unfortunately I have to run a new CAT5. On a good note, there is a crawl space under the entire basement floor. I just did not want to crawl underneath it. Well I guess I know where I will be on monday. Thanks for all the help to everybody who responded to this thread.

Excellent idea, Noot. SAZX3 and an uno-s1 would work; the time/money conundrum decides whether to run new wire or buy the extra parts.
