Another good example of why consumers shouldn't buy into the "el cheapo" PDP deals...

The biggest defect was the people who actually went to their barn, saw the cow crap picture, and shelled out the money.

Those things always made me laugh and cry when I saw them... Sort of like the Sony 42" Plasmas... but people at least got to pay a couple extra thou for the Sony... And fewer problems perhaps.

See what happens when you buy CE from a cow!?!

Didn't they go under last year or earlier this year?

And my favorite was when you plugged a computer into one, and it made you think you were losing your vision or eating way to much acid.

I think the early Gateway plasmas were made by Sampo, I believe in Taiwan. They were pretty terrible. Later, they may have switched suppliers, but I don't think they ever had a decent offering. Just proves that the Gateway/Dell model doesn't work that well for every product.

It is a sad state of affairs for Gateway. Back when they only did computers, they did a bang up job with what they had. I own a Gateway P5 133 that still works today. Never had a problem with it. I use it for programming and as a backup for my other computer.
You may not like the way they advertised their products, but it made them millions.
When they started to sell CE stuff, things stated to go south real fast. Chalk it up to experience. Hard price to pay...............

I disagree... Paying lots of money for a product does not guarantee a good product. Conversely a bargain does not indicate a bad product.

In this case, customers didn't even get sets with &%*tty performance. The products just failed to perform at all before the warranty is out.
