Hi Netarc,

I guess we both frequent the same places... :-)

I have had headphones in my CAV 6.6 for awhile
now and it works well. In the zone I needed it
I just took the speaker wires and hooked them
up to a stereo switched 1/4" jack. Normally when
the wall speakers are in use they just connect
in the normally closed position of the 1/4" jack's
switches, when I plug the headphones in, it opens
the connections to the wall speakers and they
turn off, and the headphones are connected. This
allows for volume control of all CAV sources when
on headphones. It is sweet.

If my description makes no sense let me know,
i will draw a diagram.

cheers

Al

This sounds like just what I'm looking for, but I'm afraid I don't follow - if you can illustrate/elaborate, I'd very much appreciate it! (you can also reach me offline at netarc -at- yahoo.com - thx!)

I don't know how to post a jpg, but I will email it to you and maybe you can post it for the benifit of the others.

I picked up the jack at a local electronics supplier, I would not expect the Rat Shack to carry this item. It is the same principle as when you plug in headphones to a tv and the internal speaker turns off. Or when you have a battery powered device, you plug in a power adapter and it switches power sources. It is just a mechanical switch. You will need to diagram it as it gets kind of confusing wiring it up :o)

Cheers

Al

OK,

I am a -little- bit smarter now that I see the HTML route to posting an image.....

Here are a couple of jpgs to clear things up (although they are fuzzy)

The only catch is you can pump all the volume the CAV66 will throw at them, but a simple elegant solution.
