I'm looking for a 2 zone infra-red set-up. I have sources in two rooms that can feed either system. Some of the hardware is from the same manufacturer.

I only want Room A to control the equipment in Room B when I select a certain Input. So for example when I select Video 2 in my Family Room I want it to control the Direct-Tivo in the Home Theater. But when I select DVD in the Family Room, I don't want to start or interfere with the DVD in the Home Theater. Obviously vice-vera also applies. Walked into the HT a couple of times to find the volume blaring, etc.

I have an A-Bus system which handles the zoning for the rest of the house. Unfortunately it's maxed out for zones - and I'd rather not have to add an additional hub, keypads, etc, just for IR ($$$)

Thanks

MickP, Try Xantech's 2 zone system. It has an input for each zone's ir reciever, that outputs only to that zone's device.(reciever or pre-amp).And a common output for sources (vcr, dvd, cd).You may have to tie in extra emitters or series them together for more than two souces.. But this allows you to even use the same brand reciever..

THX, thanks for the input. I checked out the Xantech stuff - pretty slick.

However, after checking out prices of emitters, extra receivers, etc, it makes more sense to expand the A-bus. After talking to some Russound guys, it's not that much extra, and gives me a consistent system across the house. There are cheaper hubs available that I wasn't aware of for expansion. Tried it out over the weekend and it's working well. Have to order the extra hardware to replace the units I borrowed from elsewhere in the house.
