Hi all,
a client just asked me to recommend a Tivo/DVR for him. this is his first such unit and my first recommendation of one. What brands are installer friendly-ist? I.e. discreet IR's for all functions, sufficient/high qual. ins and outs for connections, etc...
If you're feeling generous give model # examples :). He's looking for about 80 hours (around 160-200 gigs I'm guessing?) and MAYBE the ability to dump to DVD-R. Recording in HD is also a possible. He may not spring for the extras here but I'm interested in your opinions on all of these either way.
Thanks all,
Joel.

I've installed the Pioneer and the Toshiba. I had no trouble integrating them after doing a bit of work with the IR codes & remote.
I would suggest that you let the customer buy the unit. The margin on these units is slim at best, and if there are problems with the unit or hardware failure (both are common with Tivo units) the dealer he bought the unit from is on the hook, not you. The only way you will make money on selling and installing this thing is on a T&M basis. Just a word to the wise...
