"Video is emerging as the key strategic application in the service-provider triple play bundle of consumer entertainment, communication and online services," says chief executive John Chambers in a statement announcing the deal. “As consumers demand more sophisticated information and entertainment services in their home, tightly coupled applications, devices and networks will be essential."

Wow, that has some serious ramifications to our lil ol' industry.

Wonder if I need to brush up on my CLI skills to turn on native rate passthrough on their boxes?

What I see is a dire need for instruction in communicating ideas in understandable phrases.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Oh come on Ernie ;-). Are you saying you didn't enjoy reading the erudite yet subtle observations contained in John Chambers insightful prose regarding the consumer landscape and vista?

oohhhh...Cisco....

I see the future....

Micro soft will buy Motorolla and we'll have 'cable boxes' crashing, getting virus's, and needing 'updates' on a regular basis.

Whatever you do, don't flip through the channels too fast!
It may require a re-boot!

Pilgram, I am assuming you don't have a HD DVR now? If its not crashing, its locking up for a few seconds. If its not locking up, the on screen commands are really sluggish.

But we put up with it for the great High def pictures and the ability to time shift those pictures.
