I have kind of a weird situation and was wanting some advice. I purchased a lot of the old stock from Ovation, who is going out of business. Some of the stock I got is equipment that has been returned to them as defective. Any idea if I could go back to the manufacturer for a repair under warranty, or should I just throw it away? Most of the defective equipment is modulators and rf distribution amps from ChannelPlus.

Thanks,
CJ

When did Ovations go out of business? I thought they were just restructuring.
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I think you are right about that. I just remembered that they had filed Bankruptcy and forgot that it was Chapter 11.

Be up front with the manufacturer about it. Ask them.

You are now, or may want to, do business with these companies. You can't show them original invoices proving that you bought the products from them. Your best bet is to call them, tell someone in customer service what the situation is, and then ask them what can be done.

Hopefully you have already experienced how helpful people will often be when someone (remember, someone who they think they might do further business with) just says "here's the situation, what can we do?" This is another chance for you to see it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

CJ,
My first thoughts are that I would imagine the purcase price took into account there was some dead equipment and secondly, why is that 'dead' gear still there! i:e are the manufacturers difficult to deal with regarding returns.
As always, Ernies' advice will stand you in good stead.
