tommorrow i am working on a mzc66. i am gonna try to get the ir to go into the terminals on the back of the unit using the ir and the ground terminals. now i could possibly read the manual but do i have to give each keypad its own id so it doesnt change all of them? plus i am using the outputs to go to all the components that i am trying to control. do you think i should use the common output and split the flashers? there are only three sources that i am trying to control. thanks

Do you mean that you are using IR sensors in addition to the keypads? If so, you only need to wire the IR sensor into the same terminals that the keypads wire into, IR and ground.

yes i am wiring straight into the back of the unit from different ir sensors. at the end of the day yesterday i was testing the ir codes that i have just using the sensors on the keypads. and they were changing every keypad to the same sources and volume. so i think i need to give all the keypads there own id. have you ever done this?

Just to clarify, are you talking about the IR receivers on the keypads themselves or some additional IR receiver NOT part of the keypad?

You only have to plug each keypad into each zone. If you have multiple keypads in a single zone you will get what you are describing and you DO need to give different a different address to each. Here is info from the manual explaining the parts of the keypad, which hopefully you have read before trying to do this. If you have not go to the SC website and download it. For free!

"3. ADDRESS Switch - An unique hex address must be set for each master keypad when connected on a common bus within a single zone. Unique addresses are not required zone-to-zone. It provides up to 16 addresses (0 to F)."

We have done MZCs with 2 or 3 keypads in one zone a number of times.

If you have multiple additional IR receivers (not including the keypad IR receivers) then connect them into the same zone they actually reside in (i.e. tabletop IR receiver in living room on shelf, a MKP keypad in the wall by the light switches).

You do not have to give the keypads different address' for a basic 6 zone, 6 keypad system. This system is one of the easiest to set up. If you only have 6 zones (no 2nd or 3rd MZC as slaves) and no more than one keypad in a zone then don't change keypad IDs or anything.

If you have IR codes for the MZC itself please post them here for others to use. It would be appreciated.
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i do have the codes. supposedly they are discretes for each zone. but when i was using the codes no matter what zone i was in when i pointed the remote at any keypad all the codes changed every zone in the house. this is way i think the keypads are going to have to be addressed. and there is only 1 keypad for each room. also i know speakercraft has codes on here for the marantz rc5200 but those don't work.mabey tonight i will post codes that actually work in there.

yes it worked. i had to address all the keypads and then the codes worked for only that particular zone. i tested it by going to the other keypads and if i had it set for one zone and was pointing at another it wouldn't work. sweet. i posted the codes but they still haven't shown up yet.
