What benefit are you looking to derive from this?

If you want to send only component to the monitor and eliminate the need to change inputs, you may want to look at a HT receiver with the ability to upconvert composite to component. Marantz comes to mind.

If you are looking for better quality picture from component output on a DVD/VCR combo, I suggest you look for a higher quality DVD player and a seperate D-VHS machine. Just remember that if the tape you are playing is from your old collection, you will not get better picture quality, regardless of the output or interconnecting cable type.

those combo players usually have 2 seperate outputs for the dvd and vcr only common is rf and maybe composite
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Why the component out from a VCR?

If you are trying to grab the incoming cable TV signal, try a Toshiba DVR-4. It has component out but not a hard drive.

JVC makes a 2902 model with S video out.

Marantz has a component video VCR $$$$$$$ but the rumor is, it is not for very much longer.

Thank you for the go video. Yes I wanted to have only one connection to the monitor, and I have an Integra with component in/out , but the two spots are taken by DVD and HD cable box.

Audio Authority Digital switching box..i have a 1154 A..takes 4 component inputs and outputs on one..also has optical audio for the 4..my monitor has only one component input..now i can run 4 into it..this one senses the signal being input but i think they now have a remote control one..about 125 bucks..

You could use the s video connection from the vcr if your receiver up converts

The Panasonic DMR-ES40VS will output the VCR to component and convert the audio to the digital output. We just installed one and I was shopcked to find out I didn'thave to run extra audio and video wires.

If the A/V receiver is new enough that it upconverts (if you had provided the model number you would be getting a definite answer here), then the NTSC VCR output would be fed out of the component out as 480i or even 480p, depending on the A/V model.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The 4.5 Integra is the only current receiver that does NOT transcode (hate the term upconvert) from composite/S-Vid to component output. The 5.5, 6.5, 7.4, 8.4 and 10.4 all do it. If you have an older model, then you're on your own to figure it out. The new x.6 line due out this month has that feature on every piece - even the entry 4.6 model.

JVC did make a combo that would output component for either side, but they ceased production for some unknown reason.

Why use one of these?

It basically eases the PIA factor when you MUST deal with a VCR. No need to change the TV input at all.

KISS thing.....
