Can any Pronto, TS-1000, 2000, Pro, Neo - whatever, be programmed with a laptop using a usb to serial converter. My company bought me a new laptop that has no serial ports on it. So I went and got a converter to solve that problem, it works for most things. The two biggies are the Pronto's and the RTI Theater Touch. Has anyone come across this, and figured out a work around? I've tried everything I knew. Any help on this would be great.

I use the Belkin USB to Serial Adapter. But since I have converted to XP, I'm outta-luck. It just won't recongnize that there is a port connect when I use ProntoEdit. And when I use Tonto, it just gets an error about 23% through, then tells me it is an invalid ccf. Go Figure!

I was in the same situation. My boss got a PCMCIA serial adaptor that I thought didn't work well. I then got the Belking USB adaptor. After taking it to a computer specialist, we used the PCMCIA and haven't had any problems with ANY programming software.

PS They say on their website that it will not work on XP.

I've got a fix in 1.40 (not yet released) which might address this. Please send me an email if you're interesting in testing it.
