I have a customer here in Texas whose wife is from Brasil... Direct TV has a package full of Spanish language programs, but... in Brasil, they speak Portugese.

On the old C-band satellites, you could get the South American satellites and watch the chicks with the volume turned off (they're almost enough to make you want to learn Portugese and Spanish... heh)

The question he has for me to ask is this... Is there a DirectTV type provider that has the South American channels? Not just the Spanish ones in the 500 range, but the Portugese ones, too....

(C-Band satellite is not an option here)

My wife is from Brasil. (They use an "S") :) Dishnetwork has 3 Port. channels. 596 Globo (the most popular in Brasil. 595 Record and there is one from Portugal but I don't know the channel. They are all in the 61.5 bird if you are in the east and 148 bird if you are in the west. She only watches Globo. DTV has nothing someone from Brasil would be interested in trust me. They also HATE more then anything when you confuse them with being Spanish. :) They are Latin. hehehehehe

Thanks for the resonses...

It won't be good news for the customer, since he has Direct TV for now with a Panasonic HD STB and Warner Cable (whose foreign language package is all Spanish, no Portugese)...

About 13 years ago, my parents had a foreign exchange student from Brasil... She's kinda like a little sister to me now :)

All right, it is now SOAP BOX time:

I have looked at this thread twice now because it was named "satellites." EXCUSE ME, but this is NOT about satellites, it is about programming in Portuguese.

Would you PLEASE name your threads in such a way that we can tell at a glance if we have something to offer, as I don't on this one? I have LOTS to offer about satellites, but nothing on this subject. I mean, at LEAST call it "Portuguese Satellite Programming?" or something like that. Okay?

SOAP BOX mode off.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
