wow i cant beleive they didnt package some universal remote with it....

riddle me this....if you take remote directly in front of htr2400 will it work? are you using rf to ir? or ir, rf to rs 232?

ive had a similar problem now that i think about it...ir repeating system was to blame.....wasnt pasing ir command properly.....had to put new eye's and block in t fix it, put new power supply in just for kicks and giggles.

ceied-

The remote works intermittently in front of the HTR (and it never works with a volume press and hold)...but I have an ADA IRT, which connects to the COM port of my laptop and blasts out IR as I use ADA's HTR-Home Theater programming software (the IRT blasts IR as you strike buttons in the software-eg-changing input, volume, etc.) So I know the theater side of the HTR is responding to IR from the IRT...I'm using a Niles MS 200 sensor and a a Niles 140 Main System Unit, which is what we always use for our Denon AVRs that we install.

We are not using RF-only IR...good suggestion on the flashers and the main system unit...although the IR control system it is working fine for controlling the other components, I'll give it a whirl. Can't hurt.

I'm calling tech support first thing tomorrow AM...I'll let you know if I find out anything. Thanks for giving me some hope...

if i remember right the ada stuff is very high frequency ir..... some zantach stuff is squirley with ada, niles always gave me huge issues with ada. it would not change inputs, volume etc....... zantack fixed it.....

dont use plasma friendly stuff cuz it blocks frequencies

can you use the ada software irt to manually program the remote?

Using the IRT you can capture any IR codes from the HTR-Home Theater software...it is a pretty slick device. I keep a MX 650 on hand when I need to capture IR codes without the use of the computer (the IRT connects to my COM port on my laptop, so I can't connect the 850). So I learn from the IRT to the 650. But it has been quite klugy...sometimes the 650 picks it up properly, sometimes not. It isn't the 650, as it has fresh batteries and I learned codes from the DVD player just for kicks. Unfortunately the client has a plasma in the theater, so I'm guessing I need some type of plasma friendly device. But perhaps I'll try to get my hands on Xantech.

mjmontagne, you mentioned you are using a niles MS200, is it blinking while idle? If it is or not there is a second stage filter built into the MS200 that gives you additional filtering from Plasmas,LCDs. I have had the same problem with it before and the filter change did the trick. I dont remember exactly where at niles I got the codes needed to change filtering but once I did I just learned it into one of my prontos and flashed the code the MS200 was fine after that! Hope that helps.

ADA sent us an RC 40 remote and I'm pleased to report that we were able to successfully learn the smooth vol+ and Vol- into our Master MX 850. I posted this file to the MX 700 device file section.

Thanks
