OK, here I am back again asking more XM tuner/ distribution questions. I have read (and contributed) to most of the existing XM threads on this forum. There are a few comments but nothing empirical about how to amplify (if needed) and split an XM feed from one antenna to multiple XM tuners.

I am using the Terk XM6. It works great, allowing us to wire with RG6 and adapt to the small proprietary connector found on the back of most (if not all) XM tuners. But what should we do if we want to split that antenna signal to multiple XM tuners? I see this as rapidly becoming an option we will want to specify on our installations.

Admittedly, I have not simply tried to use a standard hi bandwidth splitter and see if it works.

Has anyone out there had any experience with multiple tuners on one antenna? If so, what kind or type of splitters did you use? Were any amps used?

I just talked to Cole? at www.Sandsationsalsound.com. He's seems extremely knowledgable. He mentioned it was doable. It would be worth your time to call. Antex makes a multiple tuner reciever too.

I even dropped by the Antex booth at Cedia and I just brain farted to sak what they were doing to get 3 tuners (in one box) to work off of one feed. Obviously they are splitting internally as, I believe, there is only one antenna input.

I kind of quit questioning the guy after he couldn't even tell me if their XM tuner had discrete IR commands.

I may call Sandsational becasue we will have to have those expensive adaptors to feed mutiple tuners. (Only one supplied with the Terk XM6 antenna)

There is a company that makes a distibution system for XM and sirius to distribute to multiple tuners from a single antenna. I can't remember who makes it just now but I'll look for it.

Stop by any quality car audio shop and I'll bet they have one installed behind their headunits that are XM ready. If they don't I guarantee they can tell you who make it.

Call Kol at Sandsational Sound (1-877-750-0930) and he can walk you through all the parts you'll need to amplify and split your single XM antenna to multiple tuners or locations. Kol is a custom guy and knows how to make XM work. He deals in the RG-6 Adapters, splitters and line amps to get the signal where you need to go.

I just ordered a dozen adapters, and 6 amps from him today.
