My parents and I both have Dish500s... If I hook up a DP34 multi-switch at my house it works fine. The same switch will not work at my parents house. When I run a check switch it says no switch detected. All equiptment is DishPro. Any ideas as to why this might be?

What LNB do you have at the end of the Dish?

What are your recievers? Old Legacy receivers and the " New " receivers do not behave the same.

Both dishes are dual LNB Dish 500... My parents have all DishPro 301 receivers. I had a 301, but now have a PVR-510. I know the switch worked at my house when I had the 301. I cannot remember if I tried it with the 510 hooked up.

You need to have DishPro Twins to be able to use a DP34. If they don't have a DP LNB, the DP34 will not work.

Both dishes are DishPro and I assume by twins you mean 2 LNBs, which they both have too... I hate DishNet, DirecTV is so much easier to work with...

No, I don't mean 2 LNB's. A DishPro Twin is a Single piece, with 2 lnb's internally, but you only see a single housing. See link for examples [Link: dishdepot.com]
Sorry, I don't know how to post a photo here.

Greg - Thanks for your replies. Both dishes have the 3rd LNB down on the link you gave, which is the DishPro Twin.
