Looking for an XM connect and play that can be extended through coax. Is terk gonna make a connect and play antenna like the XM6 or is there somewhere else to get one.

Sorry to say the obvious as no one else has....
Do a search on XM and coax and you'll get the conversion to make it work....

XM Connect and Play receivers use a special connecter, not the usual SMA/SMB that XM has been using on the other units. Its very similar (might event be a ) to a Mini-USB. I have not seen anyone with an adapter for this yet. I belive that on these units, part of the XM is built into the connect and play add-on unit, so a simple coax extension may not work anyway (just speculation).

Damn dumb thing for the recevier manufacturers to do if you ask me. We absolutely did not need yet another connector format.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I researched thie last week.

There is NO WAY you can use the connect and play with coax, or with the old terk 50' extender leads for that matter.

I have a house I wired, installed two of the 50' extenders, and waited.

Now that Integra has XM built in, like many others, I thought, great, i'll just get an adapter, someone has to make one, and use the XM tuner in the amp instead of selling my client an additional XM box. And since it's Integra, there will be all kinds of discretes.

WRONG. There's no adapter, and when I asked the tech at Terk if it could be done (I have an email into sandsationalsound too), he said no way.

It's not just a matter of sending signal down the line. The new XM connect and pray antenna has the tuner built into it, so I guess theres at least 4 conductors in the new wire. Hopefully someone will have a cat5 solution sometime in the future.

I fully agree with Brad on the stupidity of this format, and don't even get me started on HDMI.

I'd be so happy if every connection in the custom world was BNC or F.

I have yet to try the cat 5, but 40 feet of 22/4 shielded works fine.

I wonder if anyone has tried taking a XM connect and play antenna apart and seperating the antenna from the electronics inside. This could be a marketable item for someone.

I know it's too late if you already have the old Terk cable installed, but D*L does have the newer style 50' extension cables.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
