I would like to mount my 46" plasma on the wall and have a few questions. After reading other threads on this, I know, hire a professional! I enjoy doing this type of stuff though and would prefer to do it myself. Currently hooked up to the TV is a Dish-PVR (via s-video), Lifestyle 35 (via component), and PS2 (via composite). Below the TV is a dual oulet box. One side is an outlet on its own breaker, the other side is dual coax. I was planning on installing a recessed outlet behind the TV and fishing all other wires to the box below. My questions are: What is a good wall mount? I would like the TV as close to the wall as possible. Also, I plan on upgrading to a better, bigger plasma in the future, so would that matter? What is a good video switch to use? I figured it would be easier to use one so I don't have to fish as many wires. As far as picture quality goes, would I be better off with the Dish component and the Bose DVD S-video? Thanks for any input you may have.

How many component video inputs does your plasma have? I personally am not a fan of s-video.

Sanus Systems has some very low profile mounts that are very thin. Especially if you do not need any tilt.

We used to be a Fujitsu Dealer. Their factory mounts were without a doubt the thinnest mounts I have ever seen. Don't know if they still make them like that or not.

Unless your dish PVR is a Dish 942 HD-PVR it doesn't support component video output so keep it S-video.

Typically we use Denon AV receivers for video switching. They also do video transcoding so that all you have to run to the display is a component video cable. Then just plug each video source in with it's best capability. Pretty much all of the other AV companies have receivers that will do this as well. I'm sure someone makes a video switcher that does transcoding. I just don't know who.

Instalz,

Why are you not a fan of S-video????? Is it those small little pens that are so easily bent?

Whats a good video switch to use?

Any reciever that up-converts all video inputs to component!

Integra's 5.5 has three component inputs, several composite and S, all up converted to component to allow a single component cable to be run to the display. Msrp- $650.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Instalz -
My plasma only has one component video input.

How do I know if I need tilt or not? Your right, my PVR doesn't have component outputs. I guess I should have taken a better look at my equiptment before posting!

Thanks again...
